Jeanne Hengemuhle
NJSP Acting Superintendent
Jeanne Hengemuhle was appointed Acting Superintendent and State Director of Emergency Management on February 26, 2026. She is a visionary law enforcement executive with more than 26 years of distinguished service in the New Jersey State Police, culminating in her tenure as Lieutenant Colonel of the Administration Branch.
Acting Superintendent Hengemuhle served as the Commandant of the NJ State Police Academy in Sea Girt from 2015 to 2018. In this prestigious role, she developed and strengthened our recruit and trooper Training programs with the Attorney General’s office and Office of Law Enforcement Professional Standards, while gaining Police Training Commission Certification for the NJ State Police Academy.

Acting Superintendent Hengemuhle has provided expert testimony before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Homeland Security and the New Jersey Legislature’s Committee on Law and Public Safety. She is widely recognized as a trusted and expert voice on training, recruitment, and organizational readiness.
Acting Superintendent Hengemuhle holds a Master of Education and a Bachelor of Science from Trenton State College. A graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy (Session 254), She is an active member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), the FBI National Academy Associates (FBINAA), and the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP).
